Certainly. I am not criticizing people's various intentions to take on a challenge to do Phd. As you said if the fulfillment comes from the passion on its own then it is already a compelling reason for doing it. However, most people regret about the decision they make usually because they are not clear about their intentionality. The point I am trying to make here is most people are motivated by the "status anxiety" in modern times and this motivation cannot be fulfilled without any effort (which most people dread).
