Instead of viewing this kind of behavior in a negative angle (i.e. stupidity) in this case, India’s ancient sages such as the Buddha discussed it from the other polarity (i.e. clarity). They spent long time investigating how to achieve a clear mind so that all forms of ignorance (which includes stupidity in their say) can no long bother us, naming such ultimate awareness as emptiness. Therefore, if the focus of this discussion replaces stupidity with the degree of awareness attainment. This might help explain the contradiction comment on Dietrich Bonhoeffer by some people, who probably do not realize that the nature of religion is actually to assist one to achieve awareness and from so doing, (s)he is able to achieve a clearer mind. In this sense, both rationality and empathy can be attained as well. All in all, with ultimate awareness attained, our dichotomous world view dissolves altogether, allowing us to have a real free mind. Thanks for your article sharing. Have a good day. :)
